About Me

My name is Nick and I have been in IT for over 13 years. I currently hold a CISSP and PenTest+ certification. I am currently working towards conquering the OSCP. I should have that completed within the next 60 days. I thrive with challenges and work towards making them less challenging.

I started my journey in IT out of pure curiosity and a need for a change and a new challenge. I have always had an interest in technology and how it works the way it works and the design of how it is all put together. As a kid I took apart anything and everything anyone would let me take apart. I would try to put it all back together the way it came apart, but there would be some extra pieces for some reason. I have always looked at things from a different perspective and a in unique ways, which is what drove me into IT. IT gives you the opportunities to feed your curiosity and when you combine different forms of thinking and thought patterns, amazing things can happen.

My shift in the direction I’m driving my career is due to me realizing exactly what I want to do when I “grow up”. I never really realized that Information Security (especifically penetration testing) was a way to feed my never ending curiosity for the way things work and why they do what they do. I have always said “If someone creates something, theres another person right behind them breaking their creation”. The same holds true for Information Security. No matter how much you think something is secure, there will always be someone finding the flaws in the “perfection” that was created. Penetration Testing is a way for me to help figure out the flaws in the idea of perfection, in a healthy and constructive manner.

My wife and kids are the reason I try so hard to succeed. I want to show my kids that hard work in the areas that you are passionate about can lead to great things no matter what age you are in your life journey. Without the support of my wife and kids I would be lost and still unsure of what I want to be when I grow up.
